I think she nailed him. More often those of free-market and public-ownership economic viewpoints have the same enemies.
Private-owned does not equate free-market. You can have privately owned firms without competition (say a factory or financial institution installed by the government and prohibition of competition). No bid contracts such as the KBR(Halliburton) disaster do not represent those with a more liberal or conservative mindset, only an elitist/"cronyism" one. Stop the silly bickering

Suprised at Naomi's ingorance. Her questions reveal that she thinks the Federal Reserve is a Governmental organization. It looks like she thinks that Greenspan has something to do with choices of how Government spends the money it borrows.

The Federal Reserve was created by Congress and its powers have been deligated by Congress as well. That makes it a "priveleged" bank that has a legal monopoly on issueing our fiat money, as well as complete control over our banking system. Congress could destroy it and liquidate its assets just as quick as it had created it. That makes it a Government entity in the practical sense, despite it's "private" status. Naomi is ignorant, but treating the Fed as Government is not really a mistake.

i think greenspan makes a good point. There is corruption in every government in every country. The trick is to keep it at a minimum. And I think Klein helps do that by keeping tabs on whats going on and raising questions about it.

I agree. And just lazily stating that it is human nature rather than looking at the institutions that breed it (which is what naomi is trying to do) just shows how little he cares about the negative by-products of his own economic policies and the institutions he heads.

Greenspan didn't "oversee" the dramatic increase in federal contracts any more than I did. The Fed is not responsible for the granting of such contracts, and that's what Greenspan was getting at.
Also, the dollar value of the contracts would be more useful than just the raw number.
