This is my original tutorial, I haven't seen anyone else try doing this yet. When I open the email I say it's from my iPhone, it's really not. When my iTouch emails messages it says "sent from iPhone" and I absent mindedly read that off. Again, this is a 16GB touch, NOT an iPhone.
Programs used:
iTouch:
-tcpdump (included with BSD subsystem)
-Term-vt100
-SendFile
-MobileFinder
-Mail
Windows:
-Firefox
-Wireshark
-Cain & Able
Command used to run this attack:
"tcpdump -v -s 65535 -w log.txt"
I didn't do this, but to simplify the process you might as well type:
"tcpdump -v -s 65535 -w ~/Media/Documents/log.txt"

I need help... Wireshark give me this message if i try to open my log: The capture file appears to be damaged or corrupt.

Great video by the way ! One thing though, when i try this command it goes as normal, however, i think it only picks up data from the iPod itself and not my PC, but does it only pick up data from Wireless Laptops like yours ? :)

Terminal constantly responds saying tcpdump: command not found. I have a feeling it is that tcpdump is not installed on my iphone any help would be greatly appreciatied. =D

I can never seem to capture any passwords... I connect my iPod Touch to my open network and start capturing packets with tcpdump. Then I hop onto my laptop and also connect wirelessly to the open network and log into a few sites (MySpace, Facebook, and a few other just to make sure). However, after opening the log file with Wireshark and then saving it and then opening that file with Cain&Abel I never get any passwords...

I think one of the issues is that perhaps in 2.x they've done away with the ability to put the wifi adapter into promiscuous mode. My captures don't include any traffic from other wifi devices on my network, contrary to the video.
HINT: run tcpdump as root. If you don't know how to assume root, google "su root"
So can anyone else confirm promiscuous mode in 2.x? I'm on 2.2 and I can't get any other packets other than broadcast and local link.

amazing man , truely a brilliant way to do this ,i had been waiting for someone to figure out a way to do this , and your video was perfect.
it was a little hard to see, but thats of little consiquence, we can see all the commands in the info and i could clearly see the password in cain.
ive used cain n aswell as wireshark a number of times so this should be a snap for me.
great job keep posting sick videos like this !
ps-next time use a tripod to make it less shakey
