The M rating isn't "phony", its entirely neccesary. Doom 3 has an M rating, it doesn't deserve an AO nor a T. Without the middle ground, we would have violent games with T ratings and OK games with AO ratings.

It falls upon the parent and/or the person selling the game to make sure their kids aren't getting this game. I'm sure there has been at least one genuine case where a kid shot someone because of videogames, but they shouldn't have gotten it in the first place. Like Darkness said in the rant about Soccer moms trying to get rid of the Wii Zapper, the parents are just trying to pin the responsibility on someone else. Now I know why my friend calls CNN the Communist News Network.

About Jack's comments on the VT massacre:
If anyone is inspired by a FPS game to shoot as many people as possible, then the problem is with the individual playing the game.
If a school shooter has used FPS games to train himself for the actual massacre, the shooter has already made the decision to shoot people, and the game had nothing to do with that decision. Again, then the problem is with the individual playing the game.
Most imporantly, Cho *did not play FPS games* while attending VT.
