This is nice man! so are what you talking about 0603 SMDs? because you said resistor 603s...If they are 0603 SMDs, I could just follow this tut in order to solder them to my wireless 360 controller? plz reply, you rock man

Thanks. Not sure if this answers your question, but 603 is the shape of the package, and lots of different components can be produced in that package: resistors, capacitors, LEDs, inductors, chokes, etc. 603 implies SMD.

The 555 is a DIP while there now may be a SMD variant, the 555 was developed back in the 70's when SMD was far from reach from most anyone.

I just removed 48 pin sst eeprom chip using a paint remover (heatgun),using foil tape to shield board...as recomended,fluxed pins and a good solder iron I had a smooth seep of solder.
The sat receiver is now back to work...Thanks a million.....

yes you got it,, tape around the chip,,to protect compoments on board,used 2 inch foil tape available in all hardware stores

The soldering path started a little over a year ago with some pretty simple questions, like, what's the difference between the hundreds of different irons, fluxes and solders? Still working on the that question... A lot of the knowledge comes from training to become an IPC certified soldering specialist (google J-STD-001)

Man, I do this exact procedure five hours a day at my job. Thank god for solder paste, solder stencils, vacuum pick and place, & reflow ovens. We don't have stencils for the less frequently ordered models, however.

I'm trying to solder a PIC32 microchip. That board shown at the very end of the video (didn't catch the name) seems very very useful. Where can I get one? Also, how do I know it has the correct pin spacing for the PIC32 microchip?

The PIC32 comes in two different packages, a 64 lead (.5mm pitch) and 100 lead (.4mm pitch) version. We're a distributor for Schmartboards, and carry the two options: curiousinventor com / store / category / 21
You want either the .5 or .4 pitch QFP

1. How did you figure out what the pin spacing was for the PIC32? I looked on their site and couldn't find anything.
2. So will the 100 pin PIC32 fit on your board? How about the 64 pin one?

The 100 pin version will fit on the .4 pitch board, the 64 pin on the .5 pitch.
