God bless this brave woman. She put her life on the line for not only her country, but for the struggle against militant extremism that has betrayed the religion of Islam. They knew she was going to fight them once she became Prime Minister. The people of Pakistan must honor her memory by coming together and press on to fight against the terrorists and enemies of freedom.

Sharia law and militant extremism is what breeds terrorism. Bhutto brought modernization to Pakistan and promoted secularism. I don't defend her administration because it's too soon for history to judge at this point. But you cannot deny that if elected, she would have been the taliban's nightmare because not only was she a woman against terrorism, she would have had the legitimacy and mandate to go after them because she was democratically elected. She was indispensable.

I think Benazir came back as a changed woman. She honestly wanted to change the country and bring order and democracy to it. After what's been happening the past year, it only seems like the country will get worse if democracy isn't stable.

That was before the taliban was recognized by the international community as indisputably aiding terrorism. The United States supported the taliban before the government knew of their terrorist affiliation. Why can't you doubters accept that while Benezir was anything but perfect, she was a counter balance AGAINST TERRORISM?!?!? That's the thing, most terrorists aren't terrorists just because--it is their religious belief that they must force people to convert, and live the ways they live...So in a sense, it goes against the whole US philosophy of freedom of religion. That's why the Middle East has such issues...it's not even a political issue anymore, it's a cultural and religious issue.

It is not the intent of Islamic terrorists to indoctrinate people. their goal is to kill as many people as possible to create chaos and gain power while Iran exploits that chaos. They do it because they want their way of life imposed--religious and cultural. Many are intolerant of other religions, they're intolerant of democracy, and of a modern way of life...
We should've taken Osama Bin Laden DOWN--of course though, he might already be...it's possible...We should've taken it within our OWN hands to protect Benazir Bhutto, so we could've had Pakistan on our side--now it's really up in the air whether Pakistan will ally with us much longer, and forget Iraq.

Yeah...Her father owned a LOTTTT of land in Pakistan. A LOT. He inherited it from his family...The Bhutto's actually married within their own family for a LONG time...Their cousins married other cousins so they would obtain more land, and keep the land they already had, and then find other women...Even Zulfiqar Bhutto actually had an arranged marriage with a lady I believe was related to him, and then he left her for Nusrat (Benazir's mother)...

I'm doing a one-man show (well, my teacher is letting me have a LOT of "supporting actors"--so I guess it's a play) about Benazir Bhutto, and it's so hard to write! Because so many people say she was corrupt, so it's hard to establish an "angle" and a "concept"...but everytime I see interviews, I ALWAYS reassure myself that she had good intentions--at least "good" in the sense that she really did want to establish democracy and a modern society in Pakistan.

Dont be sad. you are not pakistani so i am sure u dont know the ground realities. She wrote a WILL that says that after her death her son will lead pakistan. This is a woman who claimed that she is coming back to pakistan to give democracy. Let me tell you, Under Musharraf government, Pakistani people for first time enjoyed real decomcracy.
