Remember the pre-cable days huddled around the old black and white TV, fidgeting with the antenna to get WSBK TV38 to come in to see the Bruins?
And who can forget doing a jig to the opening tune by the Ventures ("Nutty")!
These clips are a little "grainy" and seen best when viewed in the smaller screen but they are a reminder of the days of watching the Bruins before NESN (great reception today, but the team was way better then).
And, of course, the best Bruin of them all (and greatest all around player ever!) wore Number Four!

2. orr is in my humble opinion the greatest athlete save MAYBE muhammad ali, of all time. asked why he stared so intently at the rafters before a critical game with chicago, larry bird said it all: i was looking to the rafters at bobby orr's number.
3. in 1976 ALL nhl coaches were polled: if you could have one player to fill ALL six positions ... who? ALL picked orr.
My point, which nobody seems to be able to understand, is that this thread has become one big silly EGO based arguement. and it is definitely patterned after: My dad is bigger than YOUR dad:

Orr would not be able to do that though. Gretz won 4 cups, Orr just 2.
Gretzky, like Richard, played on stacked teams. He had the starting goalie and four defensemen from Team Canada covering for his many defensive lapses, as well as Jari Kurri, one of the very best defensive forwards in the game playing on his line.
Orr scored 135pts. from the blueline. 200pts. as a forward isn't difficult to imagine.
Gretzky playing defense? No chance in hell.
