The way modern capoeira is practiced is what makes it inegective. The whole point of "playing" capoeira with a person is exactly that. Playing means no contact, which means no mental fortitude or preparation against a full contact fighter. At my gym we spar every day which developes better reflex, strategy, and toughness. How can you land an effective kick if you're taught for years not to make contact? The practice explains for itself why capoeirastas don't perform well against fighters.

it's not about mental fortitude, it's physical.capoeiristas have some of the best mental capabilities of modern fighters because we need to predict movements and coordinate a lot more than other fighters. I practice capoeira, and we use punching bags and such, so we're not unprepared.The best capoeiristas can definitely KO someone, and when noobs make some mistakes and hit someone, people get knocked out from one kick.

who says capoeristas don't make contact, the way you see capoeira is being practised has to do with the history of capoeira. a long time ago capoeira was used on the streets in brazil as a streetfight art. it was rough, sneaky and hard just like mma is nowadays.
they used to do 'jogo de faca' today an extinct method of capoeira where they used knifes atouched to the feet.

From what I've come to know, that's partly what it is, in fact. Most martial arts could be considered dances, but Capoeira is actually done AS a dance with others as well as a fighting style. But I dunno....That didn't seem like good Capoeira to me...He was staggering rather frequently, he seemed tired, and he didn't do a lot of the things most people doing Capoeira do....

Yes GoldVision. Thanks for the history lesson. But according to the way things go today.....capoiera sucks. I mean really, let's cut the crap. Name one top notch fighter any where in the world who uses that shit in a fight.......yeah, I can't either. It's a great workout and very intertaining, however this video is a perfect example of how effective it is against a trained NHB fighter.

Yeah, he looks tired -probably because capoeira requires you to move/dance constantly and have such huge flashy moves that wastes a lot of energy. his opponent can stand all day[while avoiding] so he can wait for the capoeira guy to lose all his energy.

capoeira doesn't "suck" the fighter just had delusions of grandeur and thought that he could bring a folk ritual into a real fight. not many capoeiristas are stupid enough to do that. it would be like someone brining wushu into MMA. (it won't work.)

You cannot judge a martial art by specific practitioners who don't know how to implement it.
half of the people don't know about or have never seen the effective movements that come with capoeira which makes it just as effective as any other martial arts. I do capoeira myself and we train all kinds of different take-down techniques and grapple moves, sneaky ways of fighting. the capoeira you've seen isnt the capoeira that is gonna be used in a real fight.

Well, well. It seems you have true insight. Correct, it is up to the fighter to win the fight, not the name of his system. Perhaps you would be the first ever to prove to me that your system is usefull in a way besides entertainment. You have confidence in what you know.
