It could be factual both in ancient times and current times-- just not in the way you think.
I could reference a few Christian politicians who wanted to ban gay marriage and abortion because it was not God's plan (*cough* Palin). Not to mention the Mormon Church of LDS who donated copious amounts of money to proposition 8.
So much for separation of Church and state.

the core of the christian faith has nothing to do with politics so even if some politicians try and use it to determine political matters is irrelevant thats not what the christian faith represents also gay marriage is not objective truth it is subjective(meaning its a person's opioion)

Brian you don't seem to know much... America was not based on Christianity at all. The puritans came to America seeking religious freedom. Our forefather's actually despised religion and believed that it was a way for ignorant people to validate their empty lives. I respectfully disagree chinky america was based on the christian faith most of the founding fathers were christians puritans was seeking freedom from the way their country used religion to be dictatorial but the maintain christian faith and this thing about christians hating people is not apart of the core of the christianity I dont think know very much about the christian faith based on that statement

This is far from biblical truth and it shows the bias and presuppositions behind it. If whats truth for you is true for you and whats truth for me is true for me. What if my truth says your truth cant be true. Is it still true. Two things that are contrary cannott be in agreement with each other. Pink cant be blue and blue cant be green the problem is not the color, but my color blindness. It is not the colors fault but the condition of my eye and me not in what is being seen.

What your saying is true, however, only through the eye of objectivity; which we as imperfect beings could never have...this is why I believe faith is so important. But within our subjective selves what I call pink may possibly be your blue; and my blue may possibly be your pink. And if my truth says your truth is wrong, both our truths are still right within our subjective perspectives. This is why it is impossible to argue religion, only point out possible inconsistencies.

That is exactly why we need to measure our focus and claims by a objective truth. I understand that subjectivity and objectivity are two different components. However when you are driving and you feel your car is moving you jam on the brake. If you feel you still are moving you look at a post of something unmoveable to see if you are in motion. We too have to measure our claims by a unmovable unalterable provable absolute truth. which to me and I can provide evidence: is the BIBLE!!

Reading through these numerous responses, it is clear that many are offended to know that there are intelligent people out there who don't share the same way of viewing the world as themselves. To all those debating which religion is right and which is wrong, I believe you've missed the entire message of this awesome piece of verbal art. My hope is that we all learn to humble ourselves, and let truth speak for itself. Let us put away our egos and make a genuine effort to understand one another.

It depends on what laws you are looking for. Religion and politics are always intertwined with one always having an impact on the other. The fact that Christianity was established as the official religion of the Roman Empire in February 380 (historically one of the most influential and powerful empires known to man) looks like a very significant law in my opinion. Adding to that was Constantine declaring Sunday as the official Roman day of rest in March 321.

Any opinion, any worldview, or any idea is subject to human bias. The fact is, objective truth does not exist. Even any logical argument begins with a presupposition, and therefore is also influenced by our subjective biases. The only true measure of objectivity is universal experience. Objective truth is the limit that we can only hope to obtain, but can never actually get there. I believe the beauty in life is the journey to truth, and not actually the "truth" itself.
